INTELLIGENT DATA ANALYSIS IN BIOMEDICINE AND PHARMACOLOGY

August 25-26, 2006
A two-day workshop in Verona, Italy
Niels Peek and Carlo Combi (chairs)

Organized in collaboration with Intelligent Data Analysis and Data Mining Workgroup of International Medical Informatics Association, and Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining SIG of American Medical Informatics Association

IDAMAP-2006, a workshop on intelligent data analysis in biomedicine and pharmacology, will be held at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Verona, Verona, Italy, prior to the 17th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI-2006), which is nearby located at Riva del Garda (Trento), Italy. This is the eleventh IDAMAP workshop, and the first one to last more than one day: IDAMAP-2006 consists of one afternoon (on Friday, August 25) and one full day (on Saturday, August 26).

The IDAMAP workshop series is devoted to computational methods for data analysis in medicine, biology and pharmacology that present results of analysis in the form communicable to domain experts and that somehow exploit knowledge of the problem domain. Such knowledge may be available at different stages of the data-analysis and model-building process. Typical methods include data visualization, data exploration, machine learning, and data mining. This year's IDAMAP will spend specific, although not exclusive, attention to methods for handling temporal data.

Gathering in an informal setting, workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet and discuss selected technical topics in an atmosphere which fosters the active exchange of ideas among researchers and practitioners. The workshop is intended to be a genuinely interactive event and not a mini-conference, thus ample time will be allotted for general discussion.
